Our main hall offers a spacious, flexible layout with excellent facilities including a fully equipped kitchen and accessible toilets.

Hall Capacity
The maximum number permitted in the hall is 80 persons. You must not exceed this number.

Derrington Village Hall is an ideal venue for hosting a wake after a funeral, offering a serene and comforting environment for family and friends to gather and commemorate the life of a loved one. Our versatile space is perfectly suited for intimate gatherings of 20 people or larger events accommodating up to 120 guests, ensuring that no matter the size of your gathering, everyone will feel welcome and comfortable.
One of the hall’s key features is our licensed bar, which provides a range of beverages to suit the occasion. Additionally, we take pride in our ability to cater to your culinary preferences and budget, offering a variety of food options. Whether you prefer a simple finger buffet, an assortment of tea and cakes, or a specific menu tailored to your wishes, our team is dedicated to providing a memorable and personalised experience.
To enhance the commemorative atmosphere, we offer facilities to play music or videos, allowing you to share cherished memories and celebrate the life of your loved one through a curated selection of songs or a poignant video tribute. This capability adds a meaningful and personal touch to the gathering, making it a special and reflective time for all attendees.
At Derrington Village Hall, we understand the importance of creating a warm and respectful environment for such a significant occasion. Our attentive staff are committed to supporting you through every step of the planning process, ensuring that all aspects of the wake are handled with care and sensitivity. We are here to help you honour the memory of your loved one in the most heartfelt and fitting way possible.
Tables: There are a selection of tables for your use- please ensure that you use the rings on the legs of the tables to ensure they are stable.
Please use the cloak room – the first door on the left when you come into the hall- do not hang coats on the chairs as they can topple over.
Heating: The heating has been set prior to your event and this should be more than adequate. If you wish to open any windows please ensure you close them when you leave the hall. Air conditioning is available – there are two units at the end of the hall that can be switched on and off by remote control, these are kept in the tall cupboard at the same end of the hall. Again please ensure these are switched off after use.
Lighting: Main lights are as you come into the hall. The glitter ball switch is in the tall cupboard at the end of the hall.
Fire: If you see a fire please use YOUR MOBILE to call the fire brigade- the post code is ST18 9LR. ‘What three words’- drop.ruler.rich . Please note the fire exit when you first come into the hall- the main one is at the front of the hall where there are double doors. PLEASE NOTE that these doors when open can block wheelchair exit and therefore there is an EVAC chair available for wheelchair users.
After exiting the building, please congregate in Chestnut close- turn left out of the hall and left again
Please do not use any of your own electrical equipment in the hall.
Please note there is no smoking allowed in the building
Music: There is a music system- more information is available in the hall. Please ensure you do not play music at such a level to form a nuisance to our neighbours.
Kitchen: There is a fridge in the kitchen where you can store milk and food but please ensure you remove it after the event.
There is a water boiler in the kitchen to make cups of tea/coffee.
Cleaning products are provided in the corner of the kitchen- please make sure you use them and leave the kitchen in a clean and tidy way- thank you!
Black bags are available in the kitchen and when full should be put in the green bin outside the back door.
After Your Event: Please leave the hall in a reasonable state, there are brushes and mops to clean any mess and whilst we don’t expect it to be spotless we do appreciate it being left clean and tidy for anyone else who might come into the hall after you. Tables should be wiped clean and returned to the stacking trolly. Chairs should be stacked alternately.
If you cancel your booking we will refund any security deposit you have paid but, you will be liable for the following charges in respect of the cost of your hire that you have paid.
Full charge payable if your booking is cancelled within 24 hours before the day of your event
50% charge payable if your booking is cancelled within 24 hours to 20 days before the day of your event
25% charge if your booking is cancelled within 21-30 days before the day of your event
No charge levied if your booking is cancelled more than 30 days before theday of your event
